Buenos Aires – Tasting Argentina’s Passion (5 or 7 days)
Day 1
Upon your arrival in Buenos Aires you will be taken to your hotel of
choice in the city. We already know what you want to eat so we’ve arranged
your welcome dinner at one of the best places in town for grilled beef.
Need we say more?
Day 2
After breakfast at your hotel, you will visit the old San Telmo district
where you will receive your cooking lessons at Manos de la Tierra (Hands
of the Earth). Here you will find experienced Chefs who will teach
you authentic argentine dishes prepared with original ingredients.
During the lesson you will learn from one of 3 Chefs how to bake typical
breads and how to prepare a main course and a dessert. For lunch you
will enjoy your own creations paired with some fine wines of the Luigi
Bosca Winery in the Mendoza province. In the afternoon after resting
at your hotel you’ll enjoy a tour of beautiful Buenos Aires, a vibrant
European-style metropolis which is truly one of the best cities in the
world. For dinner you’ll visit the wonderfully restored port area called
Puerto Madero, where you will dine at La Parolaccia, where Italian fine
dining meets Argentine flare.
Day 3
After breakfast at your hotel, your morning will involve your second
cooking lesson at Manos de la Tierra followed by lunch based on your
own efforts. In the afternoon after resting at your hotel, we’ll take
you on a tour of some of the main museums and historic sites Buenos
Aires has to offer. In the evening you will return to the old San
Telmo district for a night you won’t easily forget…a night of Tango.
The Tango is a living expression of Argentina’s passion and you are
sure to be moved by it. There is nothing like it in the world! Dinner
and wine are served with the show.
Day 4
After breakfast at your hotel, you will go on a day trip to El Tigre
in the Paraná River Delta. On the way you will also visit the quaint
old town of San Isidro where you will see a beautiful Cathedral, incredible
mansions, and maybe have some time left over for a little shopping.
A light lunch stop is included. In the afternoon we’ll take you to
some of the best shopping spots in Buenos Aires. In a country with
so many carnivores, you might wonder what they do with so many cowhides.
Well, they produce some of the finest, buttery-soft leather goods you
can imagine. You may just have to buy an extra suitcase while you’re
down here. In the evening, we’ll take you to La Brigada, one of Buenos
Aires’ great steakhouses. The beef is so tender the waiters often use
a spoon to cut it right in front of you.
Day 5
For 5 day participants: breakfast, hotel check-out and transfer to
the airport.
For the 7 day participants after breakfast you’ll go on a 2 hour drive south of Buenos Aires to a gorgeous estate called Bella Vista de Guerrero, an actual working ranch. The staff will have a great lunch prepared for you and you can enjoy the rest of the afternoon taking part in many outdoor activities or simply strolling thru the beautiful countryside surrounding the estate. You’ll feel like royalty here. Dinner will also be at the estate.
Day 6
After breakfast, you will participate in a cooking class with the chef.
During the lesson you will actually learn how to grill beef the Argentine
way and prepare other local delicacies. Lunch is based on your own
efforts. In the afternoon you will return to Buenos Aires and check
into your hotel for a rest. The evening is a real treat. You will
have dinner at Justo Corrientes in Puerto Madero. Justo Corrientes
is an old style restaurant devoted to capturing Argentina’s home style
cooking, just like if it were straight out of Mama’s kitchen. Here
you will sample several dishes made with age-old recipes. In short,
this is the food the locals grew up on. When you are done eating, you
will wish you grew up here.
Day 7
Breakfast, hotel check-out and transfer to the airport.
