When traveling abroad, you should expect things to be different. People may think differently, behave differently, speak differently, eat and drink differently, and be altogether different. Rather than fuss about the differences, we highly recommend embracing them. You will learn from the different cultural experiences and maybe even see things in another light as a result. When in a foreign country you may find that in some places people drive on the opposite side of the road, pedestrians don’t always have the right of way, they may not sell your favorite diet soda, cold drinks my be served with very little or no ice, portions may be smaller, coffee may not be sold ‘to go’, air conditioning may not be the norm, smoking may be prevalent and tolerated much more than in other places, electricity may be 220V rather than 110V, people may take a break or siesta after lunch, etc., etc. Keeping an open mind and being able to roll with the punches so to speak, will make your international cooking vacation much more enjoyable. Vive la différence!
